A Sneak Peek into Mr and Mrs Bevan’s Real Life Wedding at Leez Priory

Tell us about the proposal – how and where did it happen?

“We were on holiday in the Maldives. Ian had planned a romantic dinner at the end of a jetty off the beach. He asked me if there was anything which could make the holiday any better, I said no and when I turned around, he was on one knee and proposed.”

What made you choose Leez Priory?

“It was the first and only venue we saw. As soon as we both saw it, we fell in love! As we walked around the grounds and the building, I got butterflies. We both knew it would be perfect for our special day and booked it there and then. We then cancelled the next venue we had booked to see.”

What was your first step in planning your wedding?

“Finding the right venue, booking the photographer and videographer.”

Where did you get your wedding ideas from?

“Pinterest, Facebook, wedding magazines, wedding fares”

What were your wedding “must have’s”?

“Having a magical setting, my wedding shoes, my nan’s diamond earrings, having our family and friends there to celebrate our special day.”

How did you personalise your big day?

“We spent 18 months choosing each detail to make our day special and to tie in with it being held on Easter Sunday. Our wedding favours were egg cups with our guest names on with a chocolate egg to add that personal touch.”

What wedding suppliers did you use?

“We saw our band the ‘Maxibrites’ play at our local club and thought they would be perfect! The occasional cake studio we saw at a wedding fare and their cake was by far the best tasting. At the same wedding fare, we met John Richards our master of ceremonies. David our videographer is one of Ian’s close friends and he recommended our photographer, Matt wing.”

What accessories did you wear on the day?

“My Nan’s blue sapphire earrings, Manolo Blahnik Handisi blue shoes, Thomas Sabo silver forever bracelet, my gift from Ian”

What were your menu choices and welcome drinks?

“Our welcome drinks were; Beer, Pimm’s and Prosecco. We had Chicken and Pancetta Open Ravioli to start, Beef Wellington for main and Sticky toffee pudding for dessert and in the evening, we had an amazing hog roast.”

Where did you have your ceremony and wedding breakfast?

“The ceremony was outside in front of the tower and the wedding breakfast was in the coach house.”

Based on your own experience, give us some top tips:

1. Have a folder for all your wedding plans

2.Attend a Dinner Date evening at Leez Priory

3.Don’t rush any decisions and shop around

4.Remember it’s your day, don’t get to hung up on pleasing everyone

5.The Bride and Bridesmaids should definitely stay in the cottage the night before!

Please leave a summary of your wedding…

To say our day was perfect is an understatement! Bright blue skies and the sun was shining! From start to finish it could not have been more perfect and the hard work and organisation put in by our wedding planner Kathryn made our day so seamless. Kathryn and all the staff were professional and efficient but with that human touch which made me, Ian and our guests feel at ease. Nothing was too much trouble and the service was second to none. We received so many compliments on the food, (wedding breakfast, buffet and breakfast), bar staff, the DJ was amazing. All these people helped make our day that much more special.

“If we could do it all again…

We would not change a thing!
