Bridal dress and beauty predictions for 2017

Bride and bridesmaids at Leez priory

Curious to discover more about the beauty and style trends for brides this year? 2017 is set to see some intriguing beauty and bridal style predictions; below we explore our favourites.

Sensual designs

Bridal dress styles for 2017 are sensual; showing off skin in a demure and tasteful way. Bridal dresses for 2017 feature open necklines and flattering v-necks, ideal for curvaceous brides as Brides demonstrates: “We were treated to a sexier bridal fashion week this season, courtesy of a plenitude of majorly plunging necklines. Deep v-neck styles were seen at almost every presentation, from Marchesa, to Oscar de la Renta, Lela Rose, and more. One thing’s for sure, designers are counting 2017 brides to make bold, skin baring choices, and the result is elegantly sexy perfect for modern brides looking to make a statement.”

Sensuality was also celebrated through off-the-shoulder dresses, stylish and tasteful. Off the shoulder styles were featured in dresses with both simple and elaborate styles. Designers dressed up their bridal dresses with ribbons, lace and delicate beading; coupling romance with sensuality beautifully.

Boho lace

Lace with a boho feel was also featured in the 2017 designs, as Fashionista documents: “Lace is always a bridal mainstay, but for spring 2017, there seems to be a profusion of it. We can’t help but look to a certain music festival in the California desert since we’re noticing a bit more of that laid-back, Coachella boho aesthetic here, as opposed to the prim, old-school silhouettes we’re used to seeing in the material.”

Colourful gowns

2017 celebrate colour in bridal dresses; shades for the season are soft and muted – perfect for a romantic look. Jenny Packham featured power blue shades. Pale rose was also featured on a variety of designers’ runways. However, bold fuchsia was also featured, which is perfect for a confident bride.

Beauty trends

Monochrome makeup is a big look for 2017; think matching lips, eyes, and cheeks. This may play out as a soft pink eyeshadow, dolly-pink cheeks, and a pop of pink lipstick. This beauty trend looks cool and understated when done well.

Others brands, such as Lela Rose, embraced beauty minimalism; dewy skin, eyes with little makeup, and a natural shade of lipstick. The minimalist beauty trend is ideal for a bohemian bride.

Hair trends

The 2017 runways featured floral hairpieces with a twist. Flowers were embraced, but they materialised in silvers, pearls and gemstones; giving a modern feel to the models’ look.

Designers also featured glamorous up-dos, with not a single hair out of place; providing a contrast to the relaxed bohemian styles that were popular in 2015 and 2016.

2017 brings back the glamour

This year sees some new looks that make a break from the relaxed, bohemian styles of the last year or two. Bridal beauty and dress styles are modernised with bold shades and a glamorous feel.
