Celebrity Wedding at Leez Priory!

The rumour mill is rife with when and where the beautiful Kerry Fermor will tie the knot to her very own Overtone Michael Crawshaw. We can now reveal the where and it is right here at our very own Leez Priory!

We caught up with Kerry and Michael to find out just how their wedding plans are going and to get their ‘top tips’ to help others plan!

Tell us how your love story began?

We have an unusual story, we actually met performing in a pantomime together in St Albans. Mike was the prince and I was a mermaid. We became close friends bonding over being the only ones not knowing the song words. We kept in touch after and here we are today.

Was the proposal romantic?

The proposal was very romantic and I had no idea! I found out after that Mike had actually arranged it to happen a month earlier but I took a job abroad so he had to delay it. Now I understand why the reorganisation was such a hassle.

He took me for a lovely meal at The Ivy to propose which was wonderful. He was so nervous. He then surprised me with all our closest friends and family in our local restaurant. It was amazing being able to share such a special day with everyone we love.

What made you fall in love with Leez Priory?

We fell in love with Leez Priory straight away, it had such a lovely feel and we really liked that it was all ours for the day. The view as you approach is just stunning and we can’t wait for all our guests to see it. I had actually done a gig there the previous year and just had to take Kerry to see it. Luckily she felt the same.

TOP TIP – What advice would you give to other couples searching for their dream venue?

We’d say that the feeling you have when you walk into a venue tells you straight away if it’s the right place for you.  Follow your gut instinct when you first walk in. Can you imagine getting married their and envisage your day?  Also the staff at Leez Priory were so patient and accommodating we felt immediately comfortable with them running our big day. So we’d say to have a few key questions that are important to you to ask to check they are the right people and venue.

Who did you tell first once you had set a date?

We told our families straight away especially as we have nieces and nephews who we knew needed to know because of term time.

Will your fellow Overtones be joining you to celebrate your big day?

Yes my lads will be there on the big day. They wouldn’t miss it for the world. Getting them to RSVP on time is near impossible though!

What did you book next?

We hunted for a photographer next as we know they get booked up really quickly and also wanted to give ourselves enough time to ensure we got the perfect team for us.

TOP TIP – How did you co-ordinate your planning process to ensure you have everything you could dream of?

We had a very long list. We gradually worked through it sorting by importance… Dress first obviously. The list just grows but we made sure it was all one list and not several lists hanging about. We ticked off as we went. The staff at Leez have been incredible helping us with things we would never have thought needed to be considered.

What has been your favourite part of the planning so far?

For me it was planning the centre pieces. I loved looking on Pinterest and wedding magazines getting ideas.

Are we allowed to know about the dress or are you savoring the surprise for the big day?

(Kerry) Mike will tell you that I thought I’d chosen ‘The One’ about 4 times. No one tells you it can be quite stressful, I got there in the end though. But it is a surprise.

(Mike) It was hard for me because it’s such an important part of the wedding and obviously Kerry and I discuss all the decisions that need to be made so to not be able to help was hard. It makes me so happy to know she’s found her perfect dress. I can’t wait to see her walking down the aisle. I just know she’ll look incredible!

How have your thoughts, feelings and emotions changed during the planning process?

We’re definitely feeling more emotional as the day nears. As you read the vowels it makes you have butterflies knowing your going to be  saying them to one another and how important those words are. As we plan the seating etc it makes us excited to think of all our loved ones sharing the day with us.

Are you having live music? We are dieing to know if the Overtones will be performing?!

We are having live music yes! We’re really excited as it’s actually the band The Overtones takes on tour! They are amazing. I have a feeling the dance floor will be full all night. There are no plans as such for us Overtones to perform but after a few bevvies who knows!

What are you most looking forward to on the day?

(Kerry) For me, walking down the aisle and seeing all my friends and family is something I’m really looking forward to.

(Mike) There are so many moments I picture throughout the day I can’t wait for. I’m so excited for that moment when I see Kerry walk down the aisle. It’s going to be amazing. I also can’t wait for the moment Kerry becomes Mrs Crawshaw. I can’t believe how lucky I am that she’s going to be my wife.

How does it feel to be the stars in a celebrity wedding?

(Mike) I don’t really consider myself a ‘celebrity’ but I am so excited about the day. I’m going to make sure Kerry feels like a princess for the day!

(Kerry) I consider him a celebrity and I can’t wait.

Can you spare time between your many gigs for a honeymoon this year too?

I actually finish a 27 date tour this week so it worked out really well although I do have a gig quite soon after the wedding but we’re managing to squeeze a 7 day honeymoon in before, it’s still to be booked though. We really need to sort that.

TOP TIP – Do you have any other advice for other Brides and Grooms to be?

(Kerry) For the brides I’d say take your time over your dress. I thought I’d chosen a dress then I’d worry the boning wasn’t right, or the fit not good. Try loads and loads on as sometimes what you love doesn’t suit you. I had thought I had a perfect dress in mind but it hung all wrong. So try to enjoy and don’t panic.

(Mike) The Grooms preparation, on the surface, seems minimal but don’t be fooled. From making sure your suit not only fits you perfectly but is also great for your entire wedding party, to finding the right aftershave. This may seem trivial but trust me it isn’t if you’re hoping for the perfect day. Be organised and don’t leave these things until the last minute.

We cannot wait to host Kerry and Michael’s wedding and wish them every happiness together! Fingers crossed they will share some photos with us!
