Would you wear no make-up to get married? Fresh-faced wedding trend for 2020

If you don’t wear much – or any – make up, you may well be tempted to forgo mascara, lipstick, blusher, and eyeshadow on your big day and go au naturel instead.

However, walking down the aisle without makeup can be daunting to say the least. Even if you’re used to a fresh-faced look, having all those cameras pointed at your face could make you feel exposed.

Luckily, if you do decide to go make-up-free, you won’t be alone. The trend for fresh-faced brides has been gradually growing, and more women are now saying their vows without their war paint.

As @Medium says, “Forsaking the airbrushed pores and glittery lids of recent years, brides are increasingly opting to follow the “no make-up” trend on The Big Day.”

Looking like yourself

One of the main reasons brides opt for a make-up free look is that it ensures they look like themselves on their big day.

Hiring a professional make-up artist can result in a much heavier look than you’re used to. This can make you look overly made up in photos and you can begin to lose your sense of self. Going make-up-free ensures you look like you in all of your wedding snaps.

Saving money

A bonus of opting for a fresh-faced look on your wedding day is that you save money on a make-up artist. While this probably won’t be a driving factor in your decision, not having a make-up artist could easily save you a couple of hundred pounds – money that can be redirected to other areas of your big day.

Making a statement

Going make-up-free on your wedding day makes a real statement. If you want your friends and family to know that you’re comfortable in your own skin, and that your partner loves you for who you truly are, this is a great way to go.

Not wearing make-up tells your loved ones that you’re not putting on a show and are marrying your other half, warts and all.

Could you go make-up free?

It’s a lot easier to go make-up free if you have clean, clear skin. In the run up to your wedding, try to wear less make-up to give your skin the chance to breathe and get used to life free of foundation, bronzer and other products.

Exfoliating on a regular basis and using good quality moisturiser will also help to ensure you have that fresh-faced glow on your wedding day. If you break out in spots just before you walk up the aisle, or if your blotchy skin just won’t clear up, wearing a little foundation will help to boost your confidence without detracting from your look.
