With wedding season in full swing, struggling to find an outfit is every guest’s worst nightmare. Do you go for something that compliments the bridal colours? A long dress or a short dress? Patterned or plain? The great British weather doesn’t help either – sometimes you need to be prepared for all eventualities.
To give you some inspiration, here are some of the hot celebrity wedding outfits that we’ve seen so far this year.
Back to Black
Although black is often a complete no-go colour when it comes to wedding outfits, Naomi Campbell managed to pull off quite a sleek black number earlier this year.
She rocked up to Marc Jacobs’ wedding with a sheer black top, high-waisted black trousers with diamantes, and a matching floor-length cape to finish off the look. Add a bouquet of this summer’s top flower picks to bring a fresh edge to your style.
Bringing a hint of sunshine
Yellow seems to be the colour of the season, first seen on Emily Ratajkowski, again at Marc Jacobs’ New York wedding.
Her stunning midi dress had a plunging neckline and was made from a gorgeous yellow satin. Paired with gold heels and a gold clutch bag, she really did look the part. Gold accessories are a real trend this year too.
The next hint of yellow we saw was Billie Fairs (former TOWIE cast member). Billie attended her mother-in-law’s wedding in a striking one-shouldered, sweetheart neckline dress with a daring thigh-high split. In addition, she paired this with white shoes and a gold headband.
Is white actually ok?
Victoria Beckham is one of the world’s iconic fashion experts, so naturally she’s someone we all look to for inspiration. For the wedding of Sergio Ramos and Pilar Rubio she opted for a white dress!
A complete faux pas for weddings but, being Posh Spice, she can get away with it. The white top and skirt did have a chain print running through, which slightly masked the colour and she paired it with some stunning fuchsia heels that attracted your eyes elsewhere.
Purple seems to be the favourite
Who else would we turn to for fashion inspiration than Elle Woods (played by Reese Witherspoon in Legally Blond)? Reese Witherspoon looked chic in a purple floral, floaty dress that she wore to Zoe Kravitz’s rehearsal dinner.
However, she wasn’t the only celebrity to wear purple this wedding season. Kate Moss wore a floor-length plum dress to Marc Jacobs’ wedding in April this year. Partnered with her daughter in a gold minidress, they certainly looked the part.
It’s completely fine to choose a plain outfit for a wedding too. The Hadid sisters were complemented by @TheAffinityMag for wearing: “two different ensembles with a very similar feel.” You don’t always have to wear the brightest outfit in order to stand out.
