In the late 1980s, Leez Priory was purchased by its current owners, The Country House Weddings group. In May 1995, Leez Priory became the first country house in England to be granted a licence to conduct civil ceremonies. Choose from 6 stunning settings including the Great Tower and outside in the pretty courtyard under the carriageway.
Leez Priory is located in the heart of rural Essex, yet is only 15 minutes from Chelmsford. Surrounded by miles of open countryside, and set in 40 acres of parkland and lakes, we are lucky to have some wonderful wildlife such as ducks, pheasants, rabbits, chickens, Muncjak deer, barn owls, whites doves and our resident swan Derek.

Ideal for impact, enjoy a beautiful candlelit atmosphere throughout the venue with a combination of breathtaking hurricane lamps and pretty votives. We can even arrange candlelit table centrepieces displayed on striking mirrors.
Another great and novel idea is to take your guests back to childhood! Choose sweets to match your colour scheme or choose old favourites that your guests will all remember from school days. We can also arrange candy jars as fun table decorations and sweets as favours- a unique touch for your special day.
Our head chef Paul has extensive seasonal menus for you to choose from and can accommodate allergies, vegetarians and vegans to name a few. The gorgeous Great Hall can seat up to 86 guests and the converted Coach House can seat up to 110 guests. As well as an exquisite wedding breakfast you can also tantalise your guests with mouth watering hot and cold canapés and welcome drinks whilst you have your wedding pictures taken.
Our head chef can also make you a stunning wedding cake or if you fancy something different a wedding pavlova! We also provide various accessories to help you keep your day as colour coordinated and stress free as possible, so chair covers, favours you name it we can do it.
