Tell us about the proposal – how and where did it happen?
It was on the Disney Dream Cruise Ship on Wednesday 2nd November 2016. It was Pirate theme night and as we had our photos taken on the sweeping staircase, Trina walked away to be called back by Robin who was on one knee with the ring on a pirate’s hook, everyone on the ship cheered and the photographer was ready to catch the moment.
What was your first step in planning your wedding?
Searching for a venue. Leez Priory was the first venue we visited and we both fell in love with it.
What were your wedding “must have’s”?
An amazing venue which we got and also good accommodation for guests.
What made you choose Leez Priory?
On the journey to the venue, it poured with rain but the moment we arrived the sun came out and the priory looked breathtaking. The best things were even though it is a grand venue the rooms are still intimate so as we had a fairly small wedding of 80 guests…it worked well.
Were there any funny moments during the day?
Trina practically running up the aisle instead of a graceful glide. Usain Bolt couldn’t have got there quicker in heels!
Where did you have your ceremony and wedding breakfast?
The ceremony was in the tower. Trina’s Daughter Emma walked her down the aisle and Robin’s youngest daughter Jessica sang ‘Can’t help falling in love’ by Elvis. The Wedding Breakfast was in the Great Hall.
What were your menu choices and welcome drinks?
Raspberry Fizz and Pimms
Prawn & Duck canapes
Salmon starter, Beef Wellington and Trio of desserts
Fish and chips for the evening.
What song did you choose for your first dance?
We had Ed Sheeran’s ‘Thinking Out Loud’ as it’s one of our favourite songs. We did have some lessons as Trina is not a natural dancer! Due to the wedding being on one of the hottest days of the Summer we decided to have the dance on the lawn. That paired with not having danced in the dress meant it didn’t go quite as well as planned but we still enjoyed it.
Have you got a favourite photo of the day?
The favourite photo was after the ceremony as we are walking towards the priory and looking directly at each other
Based on your own experience, give us some top tips?
We were lucky enough to have friends provide the flowers and to sing on the lawn after the ceremony. We did save by ordering invitations, name cards and confetti cones from eBay and having them written by a calligrapher.
If you could do it all again, you’d…
“Not change a thing!”
Did you go on a honeymoon or mini-moon?
We went to Bali and had a wonderful two weeks aside from 5 earthquakes! We did snorkelling around the HMS Liberty shipwreck; quad biking and hiking the Mount Batur Volcano to see the sunrise starting out at 2 am!
